VitaHound believes commercial dog combined with a quality daily supplement is a healthy strategy for feeding your hound. Our organization utilizes a fair amount research evaluating commercial dog food and its ability to provide essential nutrients. Dog health and commercial dog food is encountering a lot of attention as owners are evaluating the modern dog diet. Pet owners attempting to quench their thirst for information on healthy dog food are getting hit with a fire hose from internet forums. Owners spend about $64.00 a year on feeding their dogs, this leaves a lot of room for more expensive foods. The all natural and smaller manufactures our using the internet to try and convince people currently feeding their dogs one of the larger commercial foods, that the foods are too cheap in price and quality. While much of the criticism of commercial dog foods is factual, the effects on dog health are speculation at best. The major brands of dog food: Del Monte (Nature’s Recipe, Kibbles n Bits), Mars (Pedigree), Colgat-Palmolive (Hill’s Science Diet), Nestle (Purina, Beneful, and Vitalife) include some the largest corporations in the world. These corporations have massive research and development divisions dedicated to formulating dog foods that provide a nutritious diet. There are several dog food companies who use the natural and holistic description for their food. These companies are providing a superior product but still fail to provide the nutrients most need for a dog to thrive. Dog supplements are the best way to accomplish the digestive health a dog needs.

These types of products are at high risk of exposure to unclean conditions during packaging. Dogs of course are able to tolerate much larger portion of different types of bacteria, these items distributed both in bulk and different brand packaging. While these treats can be dangerous to dogs due to Salmonella, humans digestive system is much more susceptible, and the person feeding their pet the treats could easily be exposed.
