Dietary Minerals are the chemical elements required by living organisms for the biochemical reactions involved in metabolism. Micronutrients are dietary minerals which are needed in very small quantities and macronutrients are required in relatively larger quantities. Micronutrients are also referred to as trace elements. The common trace elements are iron, cobalt, chromium, copper, iodine, manganese, selenium, zinc, and molybdenum.
Note: Dietary minerals and geological minerals are two different unrelated substances.
